A road in west Suffolk is closed until further notice after heavy rain caused severe flooding.

Crews from Suffolk Highways attempted to clear surface water flooding along Bardwell Road in Barningham, near Bury St Edmunds, today.

It comes amid warnings of possible tornados across Suffolk as the county continues to be hit with heavy rain and strong winds.

Speaking about the flooding on Bardwell Road, a spokesman for Suffolk Highways said: "After 20 tanker loads of water being removed, we are unable to steam the flow."

The road will remain closed until further notice.

Elsewhere in Suffolk, flooding blocked part of the A14 in Newmarket due to the rain and drivers have been warned to take care if travelling along Colchester Road in Bures, near Sudbury, as the road is prone to flooding.
