A 27-year-old man has been banned from HMV, TK Maxx and Cash Converters stores in Suffolk after he stole headphones from a store an hour after he'd been charged and bailed for two similar offences.

Connor Petts, of Mill Road in Colchester, has been banned from the three stores across the country following incidents in October 2023.

Petts was arrested on November 23 on suspicion of stealing headphones on from HMV in Culver Centre, Colchester, twice the previous month.

He was charged and released on bail but, according to Essex Police, he was arrested about an hour following his release on suspicion of dealing drugs.

The officer was made aware that Petts was suspected of stealing headphone sets from a TK Maxx store in Colchester.

CCTV showed him visiting a Cash Converters store, who were unaware of the fact they were stolen and gave him £15 for the headphones.

Appearing at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Monday, Petts admitted to three counts of theft, one count of possession of cannabis and one count of fraud by dishonestly failing to disclose information to make a gain for himself.

In addition to being banned from HMV, Cash Converters and TK Maxx stores, he was handed an 84-day jail term, suspended for 12 months.

TK Maxx has stores in Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Ipswich and Lowestoft.

There are Cash Converters stores in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, while a HMV is still open in Ipswich.
