An event that has nearly tripled in size since 2022 will return this summer with 100 buses on display.

The annual Big Bus Show will be returning to Stonham Barns Park on Sunday August 11, with buses and other transport vehicles on display, some of which date back to the 1930s.

The event has grown rapidly in recent years from 35 buses in 2022 to 90 in 2023.

East Anglian Daily Times:

Organiser Richard Ward said: “The Big Bus Show is a show for bus enthusiasts of all ages, traders and anyone who has ever brought a ticket to ride!  It’s the third only bus show for Stonham Barns Park although vintage vehicles and car shows are an integral part of the event calendar.

“My Dad used to work for London Buses and so I was raised in a family with a keen interest in buses! Restoring buses to their former glory is something many people do.  It’s therapy really.  It takes your mind off the stresses and strains of modern life.  It’s all absorbing and I will be joining the other exhibitors – showing my 2003 Dennis Dart at the event.

“Many owners are coming forwards, but we could always do with more exhibits and traders so would welcome more if they were out there!”

East Anglian Daily Times:

This year will also see the introduction of model displays.

As well as a chance for visitors to vote for their favourite buses, there will be showground attractions and food and drink vendors.

Jamie Vendy of the Eastern Counties Bus Preservation Show hosting the event said: “We are very honoured to be solo hosting the event this year.

“‘It’s all about the nostalgia of transport and bringing some delightfully restored buses to the event where they can be seen and enjoyed by all.”

There’ll be a free regular shuttle bus to/from Stowmarket station on the day, with the event running from 10am to 4pm.
