Keen gardeners in Bures are preparing their beautiful blooms for the upcoming village Open Gardens event.

The event, celebrating its 39th year, will take place in the village on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, opening more than 15 gardens to visitors from 1pm to 6pm daily.

A tranquil retreat awaits visitors at the Bures Transition Community Woodland and Orchard.

A spectacular display by the Station Adopters at Bures Station is also set to be a highlight.

Open Gardens team leader, Ken Jackson, said: “As always, we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to the village.

"And there will be plenty for them to see and do.

"Other attractions will include lunches on Bures Common, cream teas, cake and book stalls in the Church, with Bures and Sudbury Mandolin Ensemble playing there each afternoon.”

Tickets are available at £6 per adult valid for both days.

Proceeds from this event will assist with upcoming repairs and projects at St Mary's Church and the Baptist Church in Bures.
