Safety glass is to be installed at the front of the upper tier of the Cobbold Stand at Portman Road following an incident in a game last season.
A travelling Maidstone United supporter fell into the lower tier during the FA Cup game between Ipswich Town and the non-league club in January.
Videos on social media showed a man rolling down the balcony which separates the two tiers, before falling onto a fan below.

Following an investigation, it has been confirmed clear safety glass will be installed at the front of the upper tier.
An email sent to supporters, seen by this newspaper, said: "Additionally, supporters should also be aware that a clear glass safety barrier will be added to the front of the block, following a request from the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) and the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA).
"This will be visible for supporters sitting in rows A and B as they look out over the pitch."
Maidstone secured a shock 2-1 win against Ipswich, but the Blues managed to secure promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
