Plans for a Turkish-based firm's first UK manufacturing site have been recommended for approval.

It was revealed in April that Assan Panel was set to create around 100 new jobs by opening a new centre at Gateway 14 in Stowmarket.

The firm manufactures sandwich panel construction materials and exports to 85 countries across the world.

Mid Suffolk District Council has recommended the plans for approval ahead of a meeting next week.

The development comprises a 7,538 sqm warehouse, a 504 sqm office, 56 car parking spaces and four motorcycle parking spaces.

It would sit at the centre of the Gateway 14 development.

The Assan Panel site would be accessed through Gostling Avenue.

A committee report said: "It is recognised that to date there has been local concern regarding HGVs parking on local residential roads in circumstances where they may arrive at the units outside of business hours.

"A condition has also been recommended for a ‘HGV Routing, Monitoring and Management Strategy’ to be agreed prior to first use.

"This will include the requirement to provide measures to manage the arrival of HGV vehicles."

It comes as Bauder has had plans for a distribution hub at the business park recommended for approval.

The plans for a 44,000sq ft hub would create a number of roles both during construction and once it is open.

The 160-year-old firm, which has premises in Ipswich, manufactures building construction materials, supplying waterproofing membranes and insulation to make buildings watertight and thermally efficient.

Mid Suffolk District Council has recommended both reserved matters plans for approval, subject to conditions being met.

The plans will be discussed by the Mid Suffolk District Council planning committee on Wednesday, July 17.

Gateway 14 - a Freeport East site - is already home to a distribution hub for retailer The Range.
