A supermarket chain has announced plans to open a larger and more modern store in a village.
The East of England Co-op has revealed it will open a new store on the Hill Residential housing development in East Bergholt in late 2025.
It will replace the current village store in The Street.
Staff at the current shop will relocate to the new branch in St James Place when it opens.
Doug Field OBE, chief executive officer for the East of England Co-op, said: “We’re proud to continue our commitment to the community of East Bergholt, and to provide them with a new, bigger and better store to match the growing population in the village.”

The larger and more modern store will host a wider range of products and services, as well as provide on-site parking.
A spokesman for the East of England Co-op added opportunities for the current site will be explored.
This is the second new store in Suffolk the retailer has announced in recent months, with a new shop opening at Ipswich railway station.
