Harris & James has opened in Crabbe Street in Aldeburgh

Chocolate maker Harris & James already has a cafe in Aldeburgh High Street and has now added a new outlet at 30 Crabbe Street in Aldeburgh, which will be having its official launch on Saturday.

The firm's retail director Alex Stevens said: "We are already on the High Street and we are opening a little bit further up on the other side, a three to four minute walk away.

"The premise being, we are dealing with opposite ends of the High Street. This one is a more seasidey footfall and the other one soaks up the High Street.

"It is a lovely spot, just in time for the summer and there are two fish and chip shops that do wonderful trade there and we thought we would have a go ourselves."

Mr Stevens said the café would be selling Harris & James' chocolate made from cacao beans, as well as coffees and bakery items.

Harris & James specialises in the Croffle, a croissant passed through a waffle iron (Image: Charlotte Bond) Customers will also be able to enjoy the company's 'Croffle', which is a hybrid of a croissant and waffle, whereby the croissant is put through a waffle iron and topped with caramel and chocolate.

Mr Stevens described the Croffle as a "salty, buttery, crispy delight".

The Beccles-based firm already has a number of outlets in Norfolk, including in Holt, Sheringham and Cromer, while it also owns Twyfords café in Beccles.

Additionally, the firm has another Suffolk café in Southwold.

Mr Stevens said the new Aldeburgh café would be open between 8.30am and 7pm, seven days a week.
