With summer upon us many people are getting ready to jet off to enjoy the sun on holiday abroad. 

But a staycation in the UK can be just as relaxing with many places to explore close to home. 

From unique AirBnBs to family-friendly campsites, here are seven places to consider staying at for a Suffolk staycation this summer.

1. The Brudenell Hotel

It has 44 bedrooms to stay in which were recently refurbished and range from doubles with views of the countryside to superior deluxe bedrooms with a private lounge and sights of the sea. 

The Times recently included the hotel in a list of the best affordable breaks in the UK.

Throughout July, children and dogs can stay for free as the hotel waived its B&B charge when sharing a room with one or two full-paying adults. 

2. The Blyth

It is around a 10 minute walk from Southwold Beach and the pier, which reopened under new ownership earlier this year. 

There is a bar and restaurant on site to enjoy local selections including Adnams beer or guests can stroll down to the High Street to enjoy a range of independent places to shop and eat. 

Guests staying at The Blyth can also benefit from free parking on site.

3. Broadland Sands Holiday Park

It is run by Park Holidays who own various campsites and caravan parks across the UK.

The site has a great selection for families including an indoor pool with flume, an adventure golf course with a dinosaur theme and family-friendly entertainment.

4. House in the Clouds

Where: Uplands Road, Thorpeness, IP16 4NQ

The House in the Clouds is near Thorpeness Meare and is under a 10 minute walk away from the beach. 

The home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a dining room, kitchen and the "room at the top" with views of Suffolk. 

The property can be booked on AirBnB. 

5. The Fludyers Hotel

The restored hotel was built in 1903 and has welcomed guests since the Edwardian era. 

There are 12 rooms which are furnished in a contemporary style plus a mews apartment and accessible mews room. 

The Fludyers Hotel is at the end of Felixstowe's stretch of beach and is a short walk away from the pier and the town centre.

6. Pakefield Holiday Park

The holiday park has sea views and direct access to the sand and shingle Pakefield Beach. 

Pakefield Holiday Park won a TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award for 2024 which is given to businesses and attractions that are highly reviewed by customers. 

On site guests can splash around in an outdoor heated swimming pool or travel further afield to attractions such as Africa Alive zoo and Pleasurewood Hills themepark. 

7. The Ship at Dunwich

All of the rooms have been designed to be dog friendly and have a special menu that caters for dogs including doggy beer. 

The restaurant serves traditional pub favourites with ingredients sourced locally for its seasonal menus.
