Temperatures are set to soar this weekend as parts of Suffolk are forecast to reach 30C in the coming days.
A mini-heatwave will mark the summer weather finally arriving due to a change in the meteorological pattern bringing high pressure from southern Europe.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill warned that the exact temperatures may remain uncertain but the weather will still be "markedly hotter across the south-east of England".
Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill are some places in the county that are expected to reach 30C on Friday, which will be about the same temperature as Barcelona.
The Mediterranean-style temperatures will remain on Saturday, with the mercury rising to 28C across the majority of the region.
The Met Office and UK Health Security Agency has issued a heat health alert for the whole county and has warned minor impacts to health are probable and there is a risk of increased use of health care services.
The warning also highlights the threat of increased deaths among older and vulnerable people.
