A town festival known for introducing the public to new artists and genres will be returning to Suffolk with a DJ set at one of the England's oldest pubs.

Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music will be holding a pre festival party at Ye Olde Bell and Steelyard, in New Street in Woodbridge, on Saturday, August 17.

The venue is listed as dating back to the 16th century, but is thought to be even older.

It is currently run by local brothers Matt and Dan Smith and is said to be the 12th oldest in England.

The event comes ahead of their main festival event, which will take place at Elmhurst Park between Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1. 

This unique pub set will be headlined by Simon Lee, otherwise known as Faze Action, a London DJ that popularised nu disco and helped develop the UK house scene in the 1990s.

Joining him will be Noise of Art founder DJ Ben Osborne, also known as a long term fixture in London's music and art scenes.

The organisers also say visuals will be provided by VJ Girl In A T-Shirt will be providing visuals.

Tickets start at £10 and the event will take over the entire pub for the night.

The event starts at 4pm and food and drinks will be available in the garden.

The main festival  will start later in August and it will be the 10th year it has visited Elmhurst Park and the 12th year it's been hosted in Woodbridge.

The opening night of Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music will also feature Les Spaine, regarded as the godfather of UK Funk DJ scene.

The DJ has also worked with stars such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and David Bowie.
