An undergrowth fire sparked a call out by emergency crews near a Suffolk town at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a fire in St Andrew's Place, in Melton, near Woodbridge, at around 9.36pm on Sunday, July 21 to reports of a fire by a tree.

Crews from Woodbridge and Ipswich East attended the scene and found approximately 20m of undergrowth and a tree on fire in the opening.

A spokesman for Woodbridge Fire Station said they used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. 

They added that crews were able to extinguish the fire by 10.16pm and made the area safe.
