A small mid Suffolk vineyard has won regional and national accolades at the WineGB Awards.
Hawkswood Vineyard, located in Thurston, east of Bury St Edmunds, claimed the title of best vineyard in the East of England and was also highly commended for its 2023 Pinot Rose wine which placed second in the nationwide competition as best rose.
Additionally, its 2023 Bacchus was awarded a silver medal for the third consecutive year.
Founded in 2019, the vineyard was the retirement dream of Mr and Mrs Rhodes, a former surgeon and theatre nurse.

Despite being a boutique-sized, producing a mere 4000 bottles annually, this winery stands out for its on-site production method, handled fully by Mr and Mrs Rhodes annually.
The WineGB Awards, regarded as the foremost competition in the English and Welsh wine industry, saw a record number of entries this year, raising competition standards.
The award-winning wines were judged by a distinguished panel that included industry experts such as Susie Barrie MW, Oz Clarke OBE, and Peter Richards MW.
The accolades received by Hawkswood Vineyard attests to the high-quality produce from this small winery.
