A classic car club born from pub banter is to celebrate its 30-year anniversary in grand style.
The 1066 Classic Car Club, named for the B1066 road and not the famous battle, will commemorate its pearl anniversary with a sizeable gathering and photoshoot in Hartest Green, given the go-ahead by the parish council.
The event, taking place on August 3, will see the club's 70-strong membership and their collective 200 classic cars descend on the members' home near Bury St Edmunds.
The club, which conducts its monthly meetings at The Queen's Head pub and the neighbouring Hawkedon Village Hall, has grown from a core group of like-minded enthusiasts who started with an informal meeting in 1994, to a well-organised team of classic car lovers.

Club members range from those who have cars dating back to the early 1900s, such as a 1901 Oldsmobile, to kernels who showcase beloved American classics like early-model Corvettes.
The club's fleet also includes British favourites such as Austin Healeys and MGs, among other makes.
The common love for historic automobiles has lead to a virtual motor-museum that gathers in Hawkedon every month.
Over the years, club activities have extended beyond monthly meetings and casual discussions, including multiple four to five-day club runs throughout the UK and Europe.
Yet, for many members, there is no better joy than a sunny drive in the East Anglian countryside.

Several four or five day Club Runs take place each year throughout the UK and Europe.
The celebrations are an open invitation for classic car enthusiasts to join the camaraderie.
Club rep, Mr Woods, urges potential visitors to reach out to the pub via phone or email for further details. They also have a Facebook page. The club meets every third Monday of the month and the pub can be contacted on 01284 789218.
