An alleged victim of sexually abuse by an elderly Suffolk man has told a court he turned his house into a play area for children and detailed how he used this to take advantage of her.

The woman, now in her 20s, says she was between 11 and 14 at the time of the abuse at the hands of Leonard Swallow, now aged 88, in his bungalow in Knettishall, north Suffolk, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

The court has previously heard from another alleged victim and Swallow is accused sexually abusing four girls while providing an “idyllic respite from the chaos of their lives” at this bungalow.

The offences, which relate to four alleged victims, are said to have been committed between 2010 and 2021.

The woman told the court Swallow had turned the house into a dream playground for children: "There was a dart board, a slot machine and a pool table, and we were allowed to do whatever we wanted around there so it was like an escape.

“He’d buy me a pack of cigarettes sometimes. There were always snacks and sweets in the draw near the bed.

“It was like any kid’s dream just to do what they want when they want with no rules.”

But then she detailed the abuse that came with staying there: “He’d squeeze your bum and if you tried to pull back, he’d hold it tighter.”

She said he would kiss her and put his tongue in her mouth and if she tried to move away, he moved with her.

“He would take his penis out and say ‘suck on this',” she added.

“I can’t remember if he put it in my mouth or not. I’ve blocked a lot of this stuff out, so I’ve always tried to remember it as all the fun times we’ve had there.”

The trial continues.
