People are being asked to avoid a village playing field after a number of caravans have pitched up.
Haughley Parish Council has said they became aware of a "large number of caravans" arriving at the playing fields earlier this week.
A spokesman for the council said: "We would ask residents to avoid the area if possible to allow the authorities to work with the travelling community for a positive outcome for everyone and to ensure there is no conflict.
"The Suffolk Unauthorised Encampments Protocol - to which Babergh and Mid Suffolk are signatories will ensure everyone is treated with respect."
The spokesman said that the relevant authorities have been informed and they are hopeful for a swift and amicable resolution.
