Police say three people remain in hospital after a car crashed into a kebab shop in Bury St Edmunds.
Emergency services were called to Lawson Place in Bury St Edmunds at just after 5.30pm on Saturday, July 27 following reports of a single-vehicle crash with a shop front.
Multiple air ambulances, as well as Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, ambulance crews and police were called to Lawson Place in the west Suffolk town.
Following the accident officers confirmed that three pedestrians had been airlifted to hospital.
Police now say that the three injured people remain in hospital but are now in stable condition.
Bury St Edmunds mayor, Diane Hind, commented on the crash and said: "It was a horrific incident and my thoughts are with the injured and their families, and I wish them all a full and speedy recovery.
"Also for those who weren’t injured it will have been very distressing, and I hope they are getting support too.
"I know the staff at the kebab shop are very popular with customers and everyone wishes them well."
Moreton Hall Fish & Kebab was seen boarded up on Sunday, July 28, the day following the crash.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket MP, Dr Peter Prinsley, added: "Deeply saddened by the incident in Bury St Edmunds, where three pedestrians sustained serious injuries after a car crashed through a shop window.
"Our thoughts are with all those affected."
