A 23-year-old man from Stowmarket has been charged with the rape of a girl under 13.
Alex Welham appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on Monday.
He was charged with the offence of rape and assault by touching.
The charges are too serious to be dealt with at a magistrates’ court so the case was referred to Ipswich Crown Court for a plea and trail preparation hearing, provisionally set for October 14.
The offences are said to have taken place when Welham was between the ages of 14 and 15.
