Former Ipswich Town attacker Darryl Knights has been named as the new manager of non-league side Stourbridge until the end of the season.
The 35-year-old has been with the Glassboys since 2020 and had been in a player-coach role until his appointment as boss at the Southern League Premier Division Central side.
They are currently 16th in the table and are in the same league as Suffolk clubs Leiston, AFC Sudbury and league leaders Needham Market.
Knights came through the academy ranks at Town and made one appearance for his hometown club, coming off the bench away at Sunderland in November 2004.
He went on to be a part of the team which won the FA Youth Cup later that season, but he didn't make another senior appearance for the Blues.
The Ipswich-born forward was loaned out to Yeovil Town before leaving permanently in 2007. He turned out for the likes of Cambridge United, Kidderminster, Newport County, Solihull Moors, Tamworth and AFC Telford United.
Knights will take charge of his first game on Saturday as his side host sixth-place Stratford Town. Long-serving goalkeeper coach Lewis Solly will be his assistant at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
Grateful and excited to be appointed the new manager for Stourbridge FC, until the end of this season. Looking forward to the challenges of this opportunity. Thank you to all of those that have reached out, appreciate all the support!❤️🤍 https://t.co/Ejz0zZq2Qo
