ASTON VILLA

Unai Emery's side have two ex-Town players in their squad - Tyrone Mings and Louie Barry.

Mings has been sidelined since the opening day of last season, when he suffered a devastating ACL injury, but is now on the road to recovery.

Barry spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Stockport County, where helped them win the League Two title. He will likely head out on loan again this season.

In total, Mings made over 50 appearances for Town, while Barry made six appearances during his brief loan spell at Portman Road in the first half of the 2021/22 season.

Fabian Hürzeler's side also have two ex-Blues - Adam Webster and Jeremy Sarmiento.

Classy centre-back Webster had a few injury problems last season which restricted him to 18 appearances. He is under contract until 2026.

Sarmiento proved a big hit on loan at Portman Road in the second half of last season but looks unlikely to return. He looks set to fight for his place at the Amex or move elsewhere for regular minutes.

In total, Webster played more than 50 games for Town, while Sarmiento scored four goals in 22 appearances as he helped the Blues win promotion to the Premier League.

The defender made 44 appearances for Town, scoring one goal during his loan spell from Chelsea in 2018/19. That was the season Ipswich were relegated to League One.

Downes recently moved to St Mary's on a permanent deal having spent 2023/24 on loan from West Ham. Ipswich Town made an attempt to bring him back to Portman Road.

Goalkeeper McCarthy signed a new two-year contract with Southampton, while right-back Bree joined them last summer from Luton Town.

In total, Downes made close to 100 appearances for Town, while Bree and McCarthy had loan spells with the Blues.
