He made his senior debut in the EFL Trophy at the age of 16, penned an 18-month professional contract on his 17th birthday and made a League One start against Charlton before turning 18.

But, despite being lauded as a potential future Town star, the midfielder rejected a new deal and signed for old rivals Norwich for an undisclosed six-figure compensation fee in the summer of 2021.
Of course, Town have since surged into the Premier League while Gibbs, who made 27 appearances for the Canaries last season, remains in the second tier with Norwich.
And, talking to ITV Anglia, the 21-year-old admitted that's created some banter in the Gibbs family, with his dad being a 'very big Ipswich fan.'

Good to chat to #ncfc midfielder Liam Gibbs earlier who admitted to me he's had a bit of stick from his #itfc-supporting dad since they sealed promotion to the Premier League... pic.twitter.com/PwmiDUaQkl
Asked if his dad had been 'insufferable' since Town's promotion, Gibbs replied: “Yeah. He’s obviously really happy that they’ve gone up – Ipswich haven’t been there for a very, very long time and it’s been a long wait for the club.
“He’s definitely really excited now. But he’s also happy for me in my career and where I’ve chosen to go – which is obviously at his rival team, Norwich.
“So it’s a bit of a weird atmosphere, but he’s definitely happy for me.”
