He was boss at Cardiff City for a spell in 2022/23 - having joined as a first team coach - and has also served as caretaker manager at Huddersfield Town twice.
Hudson, who spent last season as a coach at Sheffield United, played more than 500 games as a professional for the likes of Fulham, Oldham, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Cardiff and Huddersfield.
The 42-year-old, a former centre-back, has been working with the Town squad in pre-season and headed out to Germany with the team for their training camp yesterday.
