HORLOCK JOAN KATHLEEN Died peacefully on 17th January, aged 91. Beloved wife of the late Patrick William and darling mother of David, Mark and Joanna. Private cremation followed by Service of Thanksgiving at 11.00 a.m. on Friday 10th February, at St Edmund Church, Tendring. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to NSPCC via www.hunnaball.co.uk

John and Mary Strover February 12th, 2023
Joan and I partnered each other in the Junior Mixed Doubles at Frinton Tennis Club in August 1946 and won the competition. We were both rewarded with silver napkin rings inscribed with our names. Seventy yesrs or more later when my wife and I stayed for a night with Joan in Mistley I.noted that she used her napkin ring for breakfast and I was able to tell her that I did the same thing at my home every day, bringing back memories.
In between those years we met socially on many occasions and I remember that she came to my 21st birthday party in my rooms at Trinity when she was working at the Baytree Hotel in Burford.
Joan was a.very loving, warm character who made friends easily and she always had a smile on her face (even when I double faulted!) Paddy chose well for his wife and Joan was adored by her family.
