BIRCH Mel Peacefully at home on 23rd July after a long illness aged 83. Mel will be remembered as a passionate local historian, published author and latterly, a keen archaeologist, who was never happier than when treading a footpath to research his next walk book or organising everyone from the middle of a newly dug trench, all in the Suffolk countryside he loved so well. Friends and family will be celebrating his life at an informal gathering on 24th August - please contact Kay at kayebirch63@gmail.com if you would like to join us as we would love to see you there. No flowers please but if you would like to make a donation to Prostate Cancer UK it will help us repay in some small way all the wonderful help, support and care Dad received in his later years.
