Brandon: Guinness World Record for longest pom-pom line

In June this year, the town of Brandon became engulfed by over 45,000 knitted pom-poms, an idea from the Brandon Yarn Bombers and Brandon in Bloom.

They have now received official confirmation from Guinness World Records that the attempt is a new world record for the longest line of pom-poms.

One of the directors of Bandon in Bloom, Rachel Sobiechowski, said: "I just burst into tears when I found out.

"The build-up of waiting all that time to find out, I was just so happy.

"For everybody as well because it was hundreds of people that were involved so I am really happy for them."

The total number of pom-poms reached was 45,736, defeating the previous record of 29,312 which was set in Carlisle in 2016.

Mrs Sobiechowski said it took them nine and a half hours to correctly count all of the pom-poms and send off all the information to Guinness World Records.
