RSPCA Suffolk Central: Dogs for adoption that need a home

At the RSPCA Suffolk Central branch, there are currently six dogs that have not yet been rehomed or reserved.

Here is some brief information about each one, but head to the RSPCA's website for each dog's full list of requirements and further details.

Baby

Breed: Shar-Pei

Colour: Lilac

Age: seven years

Gender: Female

Baby is a "sweet, gentle Shar-pei" that came into the RSPCA's care via an inspector after being left abandoned.

She needed immediate medical treatment, an entropion and x-rays.

Baby is on long-term medication for arthritis and her skin which will need to continue in her new home.

X-rays also showed that she has a ruptured cruciate ligament in her hind leg and will need an operation to correct this in several weeks, which will be funded by the RSPCA, so adopters will need to follow a strict recovery plan for at least six to 12 weeks.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA Suffolk Central said: "This beautiful girl loves her human friends and enjoys nothing more than spending time with them.

"Baby is a little angel and radiates love around her with her non-stop tail/bottom wag and gentle nature."

Teige

Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier X

Colour: Tri

Age: About two years

Gender: Male

Teige came to the RSPCA after being removed from a property by an inspector.

He enjoys "nothing more than having zoomies in our enclosed field, playing with his toys, getting lots of fuss and learning new things".

A spokesman said: "Teige is a very energetic, strong lad who can lack some manners around people and other dogs.

"He is looking for an active home that can give him the exercise he needs and continue with positive, reward-based training including loose lead walking.

"He is looking for owners who are happy and physically able to handle him, as he can still be very strong.

"Teige walks well with his canine friends here at the centre, however he can become very over excitable and rude with other dogs, especially when he is off lead, so would like to be the only dog in the home at this time."

Charlie

Breed: Crossbreed

Colour: Chocolate and White

Age: Six years

Gender: Male

Charlie is a "sweet, loving crossbreed" that came to the RSPCA when his owner could no longer care for him.

He is looking for a home with patient owners who are around most of the time to help him settle and learn that it is okay to be left alone.

This dog has alopecia and is currently receiving weekly medicated baths to help improve his welfare and this will need to continue in his new home.

The RSPCA said: "Charlie's skin has massively improved from being in our care and receiving the treatment he desperately needed.

"Adopters must also be willing to continue with Charlie's reward-based training around veterinary treatment."

Charlie loves nothing more than spending time with his human friends and enjoying lots of attention. He likes playing with squeaky toys and exploring the outside world.

Mambo

Breed: German Shepherd

Colour: Black and tan

Age: One year, six months

Gender: Male

Mambo spent the majority of his life living in unsuitable conditions outdoors, with little stimulation, enrichment or interaction with people and arrived at the RSPCA with no training or home experience.

He is now muzzle-trained and enjoys time with his handlers and meeting new people.

He will require ongoing training and behavioural support in his new home from a certified clinical animal behaviourist and adopters will need to be able to visit Mambo multiple times to understand his training needs and build a relationship with him.

Mambo would love to find an experienced home that is knowledgeable about his breed, with lots of time to devote to him and further his life experience and training.

Bella

Breed: Bulldog X

Colour: Lilac

Age: Four years

Gender: Female

Bouncy Bella was returned to the RSPCA due to unwanted behaviours in the home.

Since being back in its care, Bella has been assessed by a clinical animal behaviourist and has a full behaviour report which will be shared with potential adopters.

She enjoys "a fuss every now and again" but also appreciates her own time and will take herself off and play with her toys.

Bella has had ongoing skin, ear and eye issues and this is something her future adopters should be willing to treat if and when flare-ups occur.

Due to how uncomfortable she was receiving veterinary treatment and medication, the RSPCA recommends that future adopters provide Bella with training, and muzzle training, for future vet examinations and for administering treatment.

She has daily steroid tablets in her food to help support her ongoing skin issues.

Bella has been known to get on well with other dogs so could, potentially, live with a suitably matched, neutered dog.

Bow

Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier X

Colour: Brindle

Age: One year, 10 months

Gender: Male

Bow came to the RSPCA after being "a bit too strong for his previous owners to handle" and since being in its care, has been working on loose lead walking, calm, polite greeting, muzzle training and vet handling.

He is looking for owners who are happy and physically able to handle him as he can still be very strong at times.

He also needs owners who are willing to continue his positive, reward-based training.

Bow can become frustrated around other dogs when out on walks so a muzzle is required to be worn by him when outside the home.

He is a "super-intelligent boy who loves to learn new things for tasty rewards, zooming around the field, playing with his toys and having cuddles on the sofa".
