A significant stretch of roadworks on the A14 has been completed after almost two years.
National Highways began work between junctions 33 and 44 in March 2021, with a closed lane in both directions from junction 36 to 37 at Newmarket.
A speed restriction was also in place as a result of construction and maintenance work causing narrow lanes.
The roadworks included: bridge waterproofing, work to keep the bridge safe, replacing barriers, drainage, new road signs, resurfacing, road studs and clearer road lines.
However, the work has now ben completed by National Highways.
Niamh McGrath, project manager for the regional upgrades to the A14, said: “We are delighted to have delivered this large-scale maintenance and improvement programme and removed the traffic management measures from the road.
"The work has significantly improved the quality of the road making it safer for years to come.
"Using modern techniques and packaging a number of maintenance works together also means less disruption for those regularly using this stretch of the A14.
"I would like to thank local road users for their patience and understanding while this work has been completed."
