The first homes on a 190-house development in Bramford have now hit the market, with the developers noting a good level of interest.
Bellway Essex has now put its first homes at Lockwood Place, off Loraine Way, on sale.
The development will consist of 123 two, three and four-bedroom houses, with 67 further affordable apartments and houses available.
The plans feature more than 17 acres of public open space, including a nature area with tree planting, footpaths, seating and wildflower grassland.
As part of the planning agreement, land has also been set aside for a new pre-school.
Jenny Walker, sales director of Bellway Essex, said: "There has been a great deal of excitement about this development ever since we revealed our plans to build the new homes here.
"This level of interest led to a large number of visitors who came along to the site on the launch weekend and kept our sales team very busy."
Construction work is underway and it is predicted that the first properties on this site will be finished this summer.
