Roadworks which would have closed a 20 mile stretch of the A14 from today were postponed after "technical difficulties".
National Highways was due to carry out works between junction 47a for Haughley and junction 49 at Tothill, outside Stowmarket.
Last week National Highways confirmed that the roadworks had to be postponed.
Andy Jobling, National Highways programme delivery manager, said: "Our concrete reconstruction scheme on the A14 between J47a Haughly and J49 Tothill will help revitalise the carriageway surface creating a safer and smoother road.
"We were planning to start some early preparation work from Tuesday 7 February, however, due to technical challenges we need to move the dates of our work.
"We are working hard to ensure that construction starts within the next few weeks.
"We'll provide an updated construction timetable once the new start of work date has been confirmed."
