Plans have been submitted to establish a children's home for young people with emotional or behavioural difficulties in Haverhill.
Area Camden Group, which oversees privately-run children's homes, is proposing to use Manor Croft in Hamlet Road as its newest site.
The application requests change of use from a residential dwelling to provide space for the children and staff to sleep, office and meeting areas and shared living rooms.
The organisation looks for properties that are in good condition that need minimal adjustments and believes Manor Croft meets these requirements.
They anticipate that the property would be occupied by a maximum of up to four children between the ages of 10 to 17.
The children may stay at the house for a period of "a few months to a few years", dependent on individual circumstances.
The planning application also details that two employees will be present at all times, with visitors welcome to come during the day by appointment.
Area Camden says that the staff, children and young people in their existing homes have formed positive relationships within the area and adds: "We are looking forward to adding to the community of Haverhill with 40 Hamlet Road."
