The first homes on an 85-house development in a Suffolk village are now open to the public.

Bellway has described its development at Ivy Hill in Bacton as "an exemplar site for low-carbon technology" – with each of the homes heated by air source heat pumps, rather than conventional gas boilers.

The two showhomes will be open to the public on Friday, April 28, where they can find out more about the ec-friendly measures included in the homes.

Ivy Hill occupies a 12-acre site which will include public open space, a new play area for children and the provision of land for a new community building.

The 55 homes being built for private sale will comprise a broad range of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses as well as two-bedroom bungalows, while there will also be affordable homes for local people via low-cost rent or shared ownership.
