Barclays announcement to close another of its Suffolk branches has been branded "a sign of the high street" by a community leader.
The banking giant has confirmed its Sudbury branch in Market Hill will close down on July 6.
Barclays has said the reasoning behind the store closures is due to its customers using online banking more frequently.
The decision to close the branch has been met with disappointment from the town's mayor Ellen Murphy.
Ms Murphy said: "I feel for the people of Sudbury and those who come from the villages to use these facilities.
"It is a very sad announcement but I am not surprised as it is the way of the high street.
"I feel so sorry for the staff and hopefully they will be able to find another job."
It's the second banking firm to announce they are closing their branch in Sudbury with HSBC set to close later this year.
The high street is set to face another blow in the coming weeks with fashion store M&Co expected to close its doors.
The decision comes after Barclays announced the closure of its Newmarket and Mildenhall branches last month.
A Barclays spokeswoman said: "Our customers’ behaviour has changed significantly in recent years, with the majority now choosing online banking.
"This is reflected at Sudbury branch and, as we adapt, we are finding new ways to support our customers by maintaining our community presence with options for customers who still require in-person support.
“In Sudbury we plan to open a Barclays Local – a pop-up cashless banking site where customers can meet a colleague face-to-face for banking support, as they would in a branch and without the need to travel.
"We are currently working with the local community to identify a suitable location and will announce details once confirmed.”
