Plans have been submitted to place a beacon in the heart of a mid Suffolk village to commemorate the King's Coronation in May.
The proposals submitted by Bacton Parish Council would see the structure established alongside a circular brick plinth, on which two plaques will be attached to commemorate the seventy years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and the Coronation King Charles.
Bacton traditionally erects temporary beacons on special national occasions to join in with celebrations.
Various fields in the centre of the village have been used, including the Manor Meadow opposite Bacton Manor and the site of the former Middle School in Wyverstone Road.
As part of the 81-home Beacon Green development, there is now a public open space in Church Road which has provided the council an opportunity to establish the beacon in the "heart of the village".
It is hoped such a structure will provide an opportunity for the village to play its part in national celebrations later this year.
The proposals will be reviewed by Mid Suffolk District Council.
