Plans have been submitted to establish four new flats in a semi-detached grade II listed building in Stowmarket.

The proposals, which have been put forward by Saint Construct, seek to convert the former office building at 12-14 Tavern Street into a pair of two-bedroom dwellings and two one-bedroom apartments.

Application documents outline minimal internal alterations, while a single storey rear extension would be built externally.

Each flat would consist of bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and dining area.

The buildings in question have historically been used for a mix of employment and residential - with permissions granted in 2000 for the properties to be used as dwellings.

A planning statement submitted by Saint Construct states: "Owing to the town centre location, the use of the building for flats is seen as an optimal use for the building.

"The conversions have been respectfully designed to ensure the highest level of preservation of the heritage assets."
