New plans to turn a former Newmarket horse training base into a housing development are to be revealed early next month.
Mintridge Strategic Land is consulting local residents on plans for the creation of "new attractive on sustainable homes" on Brickfield Stud, Exning Road.
Working with the landowner, the company describe the redevelopment as an "opportunity to bring a brownfield site back to life by creating high-quality housing, with amenity green space and affordable homes in a sustainable development".
Originally built as a training base in 1880, the Newmarket site was used for a stud business in the 1930s.
This ceased to operate in the early 1990s and, despite the previous owner's attempts to bring the site back into equestrian use, has remained vacant for 20 years.
Minstridge Strategic Land state that it is "not a viable site" for racehorse training, given the proximity to the east side of Exning Road.
An application has not yet been submitted to West Suffolk Council and early plans are to be discussed at an engagement meeting on Saturday, June 3.
