The efforts of students, their parents and friends bore quite fruitful as two Suffolk schools received £1,500 between them to buy LEGO® educational equipment.
The LEGO® competition, run by this paper, gave schools in the region a chance to win vouchers to spend on educational toys.
The winning schools were decided by the average number of tokens collected per pupil.
Orford Primary School became Suffolk’s winner for the second time, collecting 5,329 tokens - the equivalent of 104.49 per pupil.
The school received a £1,000 prize to purchase LEGO® educational equipment.
The school’s headteacher, Miss Cannon, said: "We are delighted to have yet again won the EADT LEGO® voucher competition.
"As a small school, it allows us to purchase a wide range of high-quality STEM and robotics equipment, we wouldn't normally be able to.
"The children love using Lego across the curriculum: creating their own models, robots, marble mazes, book stands, vehicles, etc. and we are so grateful for such a supportive community who made the effort to collect the vouchers for our pupils."
Bramfield Church of England Primary School placed second with 5,424 tokens collected - 60.27 per pupil.
Linda Ashford, the school’s headteacher, said: "We were delighted to learn that we had won second prize for the LEGO® Education competition.
"We would like to thank all of the parents, children, grandparents, and people in the community who collected them for us.
"A special thanks must go to Gwen Woolner, one of our Midday supervisors, who collected them on our behalf and spent a lot of time counting them up.
"I am really looking forward to going to the Lego Creative Hut Shop and choosing some items that will support our Design and Technology curriculum."
For many years, we have supported schools by running initiatives to encourage learning - giving away more than £100,000.
