A large field in Boyton was on fire.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 5.40pm today (August 9) alerting them to a large field fire in Mill Lane in the village of Boyton, near Orford.
According to a spokesman for the fire service, fire crews tackled a blaze that spread over 12 hectares, or around two and a half acres.
The field had already been harvested, but crop stubble and cut straw was ablaze.
Two fire crews were at the scene - one from Woodbridge and one from Orford - and two hose jets and nine beaters were used to combat the flames.
The fire had now been stopped.
