It was reported that a man in a white van was going door to door in Creeting St Mary offering "ex-exhibition plants".
Writing on social media, Suffolk Trading Standards said: "They currently state they have stock because they have not been able to sell them at the usual Garden Shows".
"These individuals often visit Suffolk and use the same patter sales patter- 'last one', 'great price', 'ex-exhibition stock', etc".

The advice is that you should never buy something at the door, and to not answer if you are approached and not expecting a caller.
Other advice includes asking for the full name and address of a trader before considering dealing with them and to never rely on just a phone number.
Incidents can be reported directly to Suffolk Trading Standards on 0808 232 1133.
