A resident has described feeling shocked after finding her downstairs room flooded in the middle of the night after heavy rain caused by Storm Babet.
Needham Market has been one of the worst affected areas in Suffolk, with flooding leaving much of the town impassable.
Torrential downfall in Foxglove Avenue has seen homes flood and residents seeking alternative accommodation due to property damage.
Charlotte Burch said she awoke at about 3am to find her downstairs rooms flooded.
During the night, Mrs Burch was alerted to a power cut.
Her husband went downstairs to check on their electrics when he discovered a deluge of water had flooded inside the house.
She said: "We are the worst. Our house has just taken it all.
"I said to my other half 'oh we've had a power cut' because there was no power.
"He then went downstairs to have a look at the trip board to see what had tripped, and walked to the bottom step of the stairs and the whole downstairs was flooded.
"The whole garden is under water. I know this has happened about 17 years ago. Apparently they put drainage systems in, but it just can't cope with this amount of water.
"We are now waiting to hear, because we can't live here in this state, about accommodation."
Mrs Burch's neighbours have also been affected by their properties flooding.
People were pictured in Foxglove Avenue helping to clear drains to try and relieve pressure on the road.
Nearby roads in the town, including Pinecroft Way and Lion Lane, have been left impassable.
Suffolk County Council has declared a major incident following the extreme weather, with a yellow weather warning in place until 6am on Saturday.
People are advised not to travel unless it is essential.
Suffolk police has told people not to call the control room unless they have "immediate threat to life emergencies".
