Drivers are facing delays as part of the A12 remains closed this morning due to overrunning roadworks.
National Highways has confirmed that the northbound carriageway between Marks Tey and Colchester is shut as a result of the works.
A signed diversion route remains in place.
Buses are also diverting due to the closure.
A First Bus spokesman tweeted: "Due to the A12 closure of Marks Tey junction, 371 and X71, services towards Colchester between 9am and 7pm are diverting via Kelvedon and Tiptree.
"We apologise for this but we are hoping to try to keep the buses as close to a time table as possible."
