Work has begun at a site where more than 50 homes are set to be built on a key route into a west Suffolk town.
Coppicing is currently taking place on land off Cavendish Road in Clare, next to Stour Valley Community School, where plans for 53 homes were approved by West Suffolk Council in March 2022.
This was despite several concerns being raised by Clare Town Council over the proposals including road safety, as the development ends where the 30mph limit becomes a national speed limit.
The Clare Society has also voiced worries about speeding, insufficient pavements, flooding and sewage.
Councillor Nick Clarke, who represents the area on West Suffolk Council, also requested that solar panels and broadband were provided as part of the design.
On Monday, a sign for groundworks company P Crawford Contracting Ltd was seen at the site and workers were seen clearing the hedgerow.
Temporary single file traffic lights are also in place along Cavendish Road while this takes place.
