Plans for five homes in a village near Haverhill have been refused following huge backlash from residents.
More than 40 objections from villagers in Withersfield, in west Suffolk, were received for the proposals to build on land in Thurlow Road.
The applicant was seeking to demolish the current home, known as Milton House, and replace it with five dwellings.
Proposals to build on the land were first rejected in 2020, before a second application was dismissed in 2021.
Amended proposals received by West Suffolk Council in March 2023 stated the homes would compromise of various sizes, including two bungalows, while the others would a mix of one, two and three bedrooms homes.
However, swathes of residents objected to the latest proposals, citing flooding, traffic concerns, harm to the character of the village and in not being in keeping with the conservation area.
A decision notice issued by West Suffolk Council said the proposals are considered to be an "overdevelopment of the site", leading to an impact on residents in adjoining properties.
