An Ipswich high school was put into a partial lockdown following an incident.
St Alban's Catholic High School, in Digby Road in the east of the town, said it was operating a partial lockdown at about 3pm on Thursday.
A post on social media said: "We are currently operating a partial lockdown in school.
"More information will be sent out in due course.
"Please do not phone the school office or arrive at the school."
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the incident had been dealt with by about 5pm and children had been allowed home.
The nature of the incident is believed to involve a malicious call that was put to the school.
The incident comes after Stoke High School in Ipswich was forced to close on one day in early February due to a hoax threat, causing disruption for hundreds of students.
Stoke High, which has about 900 pupils, was able to open the next day – with police making an arrest over the incident.
