Three people were arrested following an incident in Sudbury which saw a windscreen wiper ripped off a police car by a teenager. 

Officers were called to Belle Vue Park, in Cornard Road, at about 4.55pm on Friday after reports that youths had broken into an outbuilding and caused damage. 

Fire extinguishers were allegedly discharged, while high visibility vests were stolen. 

The group then fled towards the town centre, where they dispersed upon police arrival.

It is believed a teenage boy ran into the road in East Street in an attempt to evade arrest. 

According to Suffolk police, a black Audi came to a stop as the boy approached, who then placed his hands on the car bonnet. The boy was not hit by the car. 

A 13-year-old boy was arrested in Market Hill on suspicion of burglary.

He was released on bail until May 22, pending further enquiries. 

After his arrest, a group of people, including several youths and a woman, allegedly approached the police car, shouting and swearing and making attempts to access the vehicle.

One of the youths, a teenage boy, approached the car and ripped off a windscreen wiper.

PAVA spray, an incapacitant spray similar to pepper spray, was discharged to resolve the situation. 

The woman, as well as one of the youths, left the scene in a car, but they were located a short time later at the BP Garage on the B1115.

A 33-year-old woman was subsequently arrested and taken in for questioning.

She was issued with a conditional caution for the offences of using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress; and obstructing/resisting an constable in execution of duty.  

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, criminal damage, obstructing a police officer and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He was also taken to Bury St Edmunds police investigation centre for questioning and subsequently released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
