Suffolk Highways has confirmed that a set of roadworks that would have seen drivers facing a 20-mile diversion have been delayed.
The B1079 in Otley Bottom, near Otley College, was supposed to be closed from May 6 to May 27 while Suffolk Highways carried out urgent roadworks.
However Suffolk Highways has since confirmed the works will now take place at a later date.
A spokeswoman said: "We are working to start the embankment repairs on B1079 Otley Bottom during May.
"We will provide full details once a start date has been confirmed.”
According to the Suffolk County Council website, the official diversion route will be 20 miles long.
The diversion route is so long as it takes drivers along A roads.

This is because some vehicles, like large HGVs, cannot go down smaller roads that others would use as shortcuts.
It comes as drivers are facing a 70-mile diversion route while the A12 is closed in Suffolk.
A section of the major route between Blythburgh and Darsham, near Southwold, will be closed overnight between Monday and Saturday.
The road will be closed from 8pm until 5am.
