The people of Suffolk were treated to a rare and wonderful sight on Friday night as Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights, lit up the sky over the county.
The Met Office said space weather experts had issued a rare severe geomagnetic storm warning for the weekend for the first time in nearly 20 years.
The Northern Lights are normally only visible in northern parts of the British Isles, and parts of Scandinavia.
One Ipswich resident said it was her dream to see the Northern Lights since she was a young girl, even travelling to Iceland and Norway in the hope of seeing them, which she was unable to do.
She said: "I never imagined that I could see the Northern Lights right outside my window in Ipswich.
"It has been a dream come true and a night to remember."
The Northern Lights were visible across the UK last night, with a chance of seeing them again tonight.
