Firefighters battled a blaze at the site of a former school. 

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire at the former Mildenhall College Academy in Bury Road, Mildenhall, at 11.35pm on Saturday.

Engines from Brandon and Newmarket attended the scene.

Photos from the scene show firefighters tackling the blaze which took hold of a derelict outbuilding. 

A spokesman said crews used the main firefighting hose to control and extinguish the flames. 

The fire was cleared just before 12.30am on Sunday.

The previous site of Mildenhall College Academy was given approval to be demolished back in 2023 including the school buildings, caretakers bungalow and foundations. 

The secondary school and sixth form moved to its new premises within the Mildenhall Hub in Sheldrick Way in May 2021.
