The trial of a 43-year-old Suffolk man who was charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Sutton Heath last year has got underway at Ipswich Crown Court.
Before the court on Monday (May 13) was Jay Cotterill, of Ipswich Avenue, Sutton Heath who has denied murdering 37-year-old Richard Hunt who died after he was stabbed outside a property in the village on October 8 2023.
Cotterill has also denied an alternative charge of manslaughter and an offence of assault causing actual bodily harm in connection with an alleged assault on a woman on the same night.
A jury was empanelled on Monday (May 13) and prosecutor Andrew Jackson is expected to open the case to the jury on Tuesday (May 14).
