Barclays has announced it is delaying the closure of one of its branches in Suffolk so that a banking hub can be set up.
Earlier this year the banking giant announced it would be closing its branch in Leiston due to a lack of people using the bank.
The branch was due to close on Friday, May 17.
However Barclays has now announced it has postponed the closure.
A statement from Barclays said it is keeping the bank open to give Cash Access UK time to provide a banking hub in Leiston.
A new closure date has not yet been announced.
Suffolk Coastal MP Therese Coffey describe the closure as "short sighted" before she welcomed the news that a banking hub was in the pipeline.
She said previously: "I find it disappointing and short sighted from Barclays bank, especially given the influx of workers at Sizewell C."
According to Barclays, only 64 customers use the branch regularly and 86% of people who do use it also use the online banking app.
After the branch closes, there will be no banks in the town and the nearest Barclays bank will be in Lowestoft.
