A new shop selling brownies, cakes and cookies is being opened in Felixstowe by a Suffolk couple who have established a reputation for wood-fired pizzas.

Suzanne Collins and Ashley Barrett will be opening Little Dreams in Orwell Road on Saturday June 8 after operating Woodsmoke Dreams from their Kirton home every Saturday evening.

The pizza business has proved popular with the local community in Kirton and Felixstowe as Mr Barrett, who specialises in barbecue cooking, crafts pizzas using traditional Italian methods using fire and smoke.

The name of the new shop, which will be a sister company to Woodsmoke Dreams, was inspired by the couple's existing business and the venture will occupy a unit that used to be home to the Polish Hut delicatessen, which closed in January 2023.

Ms Collins said: "We came across the property in Orwell Road in Felixstowe and everything seemed to fall into place. The stars were aligned and a little dream was born."

Mayor of Felixstowe David Rowe is set to attend the opening of the new shop, along with local opera singer Christina Johnston.

On the day, there will be free face painting for all.

The shop will be selling Belgian chocolate brownies, homemade cakes, cookies, teas, coffees, milkshakes and waffles.

The premises will also feature an ice cream factory, with soft serve ice cream and topping stations, where customers can get creative with different toppings and sauces.

Ms Collins' interest in baking stems from the lockdowns enforced to deal with the Covid pandemic when she made cakes for her children's birthdays and then for local events and markets.

Her following grew on social media site Instagram, with regular orders keeping her busy most evenings and weekends and she now bakes for local cafes on a wholesale basis.
